I launched NovaQuest Coaching to help mid-career leaders, emerging leaders, and executives aged 30+ have healthier work experiences and elevate their leadership and impact. I help leaders remove roadblocks preventing their success, fulfillment, impact, and professional purpose. In my earlier career, I wanted more autonomy to help more people, especially women. After working for Fortune 500 companies for 20+ years, I made my dream of founding my own coaching and consulting company a reality.
My quest began over 20 years ago, working for companies from Morgan Stanley to Johnson & Johnson. I embraced hustle culture, was a high achiever, and highly committed to my job. Representing one of few women of color at these organizations, I felt a strong need to prove myself at work. I excelled in every role, achieving promotions and accolades in every position. I continued to climb perfunctory conventional rungs on conformist corporate career ladders and was guided by social optics and external validation. I felt overlooked, conflicted with who I had to show up as at work, a loss of personal identity at work, and stuck. This led me down the path to experience burnout and was my wakeup call!
I realized I was not achieving my authentic self at work, leaving me feeling split and unfulfilled. In reflection, I learned that just because you are skilled at something doesn't mean it's your calling, and to lean into my purpose and passion versus placing value on what others said I "should" do based on traditional career pathways or social optics.
I am grateful for my burnout experience, which made clear my purpose to help other women conquer burnout, help leaders find and connect to their authentic selves at work, discover and fulfill their professional purpose, achieve their brightest potential, and thrive doing heart-centered, fulfilling work!
